For a long time white was the only scrub color for nurses, and while things have changed since that time some folks still consider white scrubs as looking the most professional of all. The idea was that white scrubs provided a more clean and sterile look. It was also an easy way to identify nursing staff. The negatives that you normally hear regarding white scrubs, is the impracticality of the uniform. By the end of the day with everything that nurses are involved in, most often times you would be a mess by the end of the day.
At one time there was only the classic v-neck white scrub top, but that’s not the case anymore. Often times we think that just because you are required to wear white scrubs that you can’t show individuality which couldn’t be further from the truth. Over time there have been a number of different styles of tops that are available. Form the mock wrap, tunics and empire waists, to the tie backs. All of these styles can show personality and individuality and can erase that boring look and feel that the idea of white scrubs may have.
Times have changed and a lot of hospitals have become more lenient when establishing required uniforms. So if you have the option of choosing color, or you’re required to wear scrub whites, you can find plus size scrubs to fit your needs.
